Coral Gables History and Stats

Do you want to learn more about Coral Gables?

In the video, I share with you some of the things you MUST KNOW  about Coral Gables. Interesting Statistics and a little bit of the City History.  In future videos I will be sharing information about Real Estate, Transportation, and some of the many places to go and things to do in the city!

Coral Gables is one of the many cities in the Greater Miami Area in Miami-Dade County. Coral Gables charm didn’t happen by chance… it was from its conception a planned community and it was based on the popular early 20th century City BeautifulMovement. And that’s how it is considered…. Coral Gables is “The City Beautiful”

The city was developed by GEORGE MERRICK during the Florida land boom of the 1920s, his team included among others … great artisans, architects and a landscape artist.

The city's architecture is almost entirely Mediterranean Revival style, as mandated in the original plan but you will be able to also appreciate the “Villages”, small communities within Coral Gables with different international influences… French, Chinese, Dutch, Italian, and a Colonial Village inspired by a New England town.

Based on the Census estimations, in 2017 the city had a population of a little over 51 thousand people, And  the city has a total area of 37.2 square miles (96 km2). Of which more than half … (64.64%) is water. To ride along the waterways is a pleasure, don’t miss the canoe tours promoted by The Coral Gables Museum!

In 2015, the estimated median household income was almost $94,000; and the average household income was around $150,000. A very wealthy city compared to other areas in Miami.

As of the year 2000, Spanish was spoken at home by 51.06% of residents, while English was the only language spoken at home by 43.83%.

Most of the Coral Gables public schools are A-rated!

Coral Gables is loaded with history and endless stories to share…

It’s an Urban area with the feel of a small town, with a great sense of community. Coral Gables is more than a place… it’s a feeling that starts as you enter the city through the Tree-lined streets, especially the Bayans with its roots that flow from the branches.
